Is He Mine?

*(Written by Rudy's Raiser)*
If you were a guide dog raiser - and you dog is already IFT (In For Training - at the school), you sometimes get that feeling "is he mine?" when you look at pictures taken down at the school.

Sometimes you get lucky - and you're dog's name is printed above the picture or sometimes it's just a picture - and it's up to you to figure out if he/she was your dog.

The guide dog school's blog did a post yesterday with pictures of a couple different IFT dogs going on a walk.

The second photo on the post (or see below) caught my eye - it looks just like Toby. I could easily be making it up - as they have a whole bunch of yellow labs down there... but I'll let you guys decide for yourself!

News on Twitter?

So one of the SEGDI guide dog trainers' has a twitter account.
Though I don't do twitter, I'm always checking this lady's twitter - hoping to see Toby's name come up. (or maybe a picture!).
No I haven't heard anything about Toby on the account...
BUT this morning she wrote:
"We did the big kennel shuffle this a.m. Consolidated dogs so Receiving dogs can come down. Welcome to the Big House!"
I know Toby counts as a "receiving dog" - so I wonder if he's moving into the training kennel?? Maybe this means I will hear some news soon!!
Not much, but hey - any update is better than nothing at all!!

I will be figuring out the rules for the "name game" soon - so make sure to start coming up with some good names!

P.S. If you want to check out the SEGDI Trainer's twitter - click here.

Happy Mother's Day!

Hope every blogger had a great Mother's Day!

Pretty soon I should be getting a email/phone call about Toby... hopefully this Wednesday I should know something - Is he staying in training, getting "cut" (adopted out)... ?
I wish I knew - but only a couple more days to wait.

Since Toby isn't here to do a "Happy Mother's Day" post - I just picked out a couple pictures of him & I to include - I know he would have wanted that, (I kind of counted as "his mother"!)

Enjoy and have a GREAT Mother's Day!

Puppy shower, & puppy news!

Hey guys this is Liberty's owner/trainer here.
I went to a "puppy shower" yesterday night to welcome our new puppies to the group (though they aren't here yet :) . We played some games, and learned some nice tips about house breaking, crate training, & some refreshers on guide dog obedience.

I also came home with a puppy shower gift bag, it had a pink squeeking kong, a small bag of puppy treats, and a pink tennis ball (won't be used for guide dog puppy).

As for the news on the new puppy,
Friday May 29th is pick up at the school, since I can not drive down to FL to pick up the puppy our AC will be picking up the 5 puppies that will be joining our group!! Pick up for the puppies is May 30th 2-4pm, I will try to do a post that night on him but we will see if it will get posted!!
I still don't know the name, though someone in our group is going down next week and will find out if they have been named yet. I am told we might not find out till pick up time!

I can't wait 'til the puppy comes!

Red

Hey, this is Red, Liberty agreed to let me do the post about me.
Liberty's family adopted me a couple weeks ago, to confirm that I am owned by them they took me in and got me fixed, and also got me a rabies tag.

They are guessing I am around 3-4 years old. They think I am part Lab, but who knows for sure!!
I LOVE water, and I go on trail rides with Liberty's owner(well I guess my owner too).
I sleep inside, but like to stay outside during the day.
My owner has taken some pictures of me, check them out and let me know what you think!

FRANKIE PASSED!!!

Hey guys,

Great news, I just got a email saying Frankie passed her hip exams!!
I was so certain she was going to get put out of the school because of her hips!!
Here is the email from the guide dog school:

Good Afternoon Puppy Land! Here are the Hip x-ray results for the March IFT.
The following dogs have passed their hip evaluations:

Frankie
J.J
Katie

J.J & Katie are both from our group, Katie is Frankie's sister, and J.J is the dog I puppy sat in October.

Now that Frankie is out of the medical kennel she will start her training, then hopefully she will be seen in some of the IFT(in for training) pictures on the school's blog(which I will then post on my blog). And I should also get "school reports"from the trainer on how she is doing .
I CAN'T WAIT!

News-guide dogs!!

Hey guys,
It was such a short notice for my trainer, so I didn't even get it on my blog. But tonight at 6pm they showed a clip about guide dogs on the news, and I was in it!! It was taped back in November at one of our guide dog meetings, but just now aired, late January.
Sorry you guys missed it on TV, but check out this link and look for me & my trainer!!

http://www.wcnc.com/video/index.html?nvid=325541
I don't know how long they are going to show this, but my trainer is going to try and take a video from our TV on her camera, if it works she will then post that and you guys should be able to watch that anytime!!
Enjoy!!
