After we went to the aquarium, the next day we went to Splash Country (water water water) I of course got to get really wet, and my trainer could not keep me with her all the time so she kept handing me back over to her mom, more than half the time I was with her mom, but they rented some kind of canopy thing, so I got to nap most of the day!

I just got back from going on vacation with my trainer and her family. We had a really fun time. the first place we went to was the aquarium, it was soo much fun seeing sharks, fish, sting rays (one of them was trying to get to me!), and I even got to touch a horseshoe crab!

Ice Skating

I just got back from the ice house (where people get on freezing cold ice and skate and then fall!) Me and 1 other dog in our group got to feel the ice and see the people skate. The other 2 got to see people skate but did not get on the ice. We (would of) loved the food on the ground but they didn't let us eat the any! Oh well. My trainer got on the ice to. Here is a couple photos of me and the group at the ice house... and me... and "Me Me" (Mimi).

Hi guys,


I am finally back from what my trainer calls "vacation." I, well, have to admit that I did have a blast! Ralph and I(Ralph is the baby sitters guide dog) spent the whole vacation together. I only barked a couple times (I mean I was exited!), but other then that my baby sitter said I did great!! Ya for me! I was still really happy to come home to see my trainer (I so-call my "owner", or wish!) I still kind of miss Ralph and Jackson (their house dog).

VACATION!

Guess what. My trainer & family are going on vacation to the beach, and I thought that would be so fun (I mean going to the beach, come on that's loads of fun!), then my trainer hit me with the bad news!! I heard her talking to one of the puppy raisers at class, and she was saying... Will you be able to watch Brax for me while I am on vacation? And the other puppy raiser said, "sure here's my email address just email me the dates". And then my trainer came to me and said... "Brax I am sorry but you can't go to the beach with us, but I have found you a puppy sitter, and it will only be for a week". I could not argue with her, (its kind us obvious; well, I am a DOG!) I will be leaving a day before they go to the beach. Don't worry I will leave an update when I get back.

PUPPY CLASS!

I got home from puppy class at 9.50pm! I got to wear a full harness, I look soo good!! My two sisters got to wear one to. if you look at the photos you can see me and my group. at the end of puppy class our trainers got cake! All we got was treats; hey, they were still good. My trainer said I did very good at puppy class and kept praising me. So I had fun.

Tonight is puppy class! I can't wait, hopefully I will be able to wear the harness because I look soo important! I love puppy class since our whole group gets together and all the puppys get to play! (Well until our trainers tell us it is time to start working!) I will leave an update later after puppy class.

Hi, my trainer did her presentation at county, got a gold and went on to district where she got another gold! She was against 1 other person. Then she went to state on July 17 (2007). She did her speech at 12.30pm and at 1.30-2.00pm they announced the winners in her room. She won silver and was against 7 other people! At state my trainer and I ran into another dog, not just a dog, it was a guide dog in training! I got really exited (I mean when I see another dog I just want to play!) But when my trainer told me to lay down and obey, well I had to! Later after the awards were given out to the gold winners (silver and bronze were given out in there rooms) we went outside and we met the guide dog again! My trainer found out that it was a female lab, she is about 9 months old and her name was Rei. We got our photos taken together as you can see! They took our coats off and let us play some. Then my trainer said it was time to go.

We stayed at 4-H congress from Monday to Wednesday. I even got to sleep in the dorms! I went into the dining hall and all the food looked and smelled soo good! But my trainer told me to "leave it". I got to go with my trainer to the "Hands 2 Service" projects they were doing for
4-H. Her group ended up packing backpacks for the soldiers, and their loved ones. They even wrote letters (which took FOREVER!). When they started packing backpacks I had to lay in a corner at the end of the room (she put me in a stay). It was for almost in hour! ...But I obeyed her and did not get out of stay! We left later that afternoon to go home. Now I am back in my comfortable surroundings.

My trainer does 4-H presentations, and this year she is doing one on guide dogs. It's going to be teaching people about them , why they are important for blind people, and why puppy raisers are so important for the guide dog school, and, of course, for the blind people.

Hi, this is Brax. My trainer is going to do another Guide dog after I go back. She had to raise $2,500 to name the pup. She did not name me, but she is naming the next one. It's going to be a Goldadore girl. If you have any name ideas and a story of why you chose that name (if you like) send them to ncguidedogs@hotmail.com. My trainer will narrow down the choices and publish some of the ideas. (You may be lucky! So come up with some good ones.)

Me & Socks





Hi, my name is Brax. I am a guide dog in training. I am 10 months old. I will go back to the guide dog school in October for my Professional training. My breed is a Goldadore (lab x golden), and I'm a male.

Souteastern Guide Dogs in FL breeds and trains Labs, Golden Retrievers, Smooth Coat Collies, Hungarian Vizslas, Austrailian Shepherds, and Goldadores. All Goldadores, male and female, will be spayed or neutered. They only do a one-generation cross, and this is to try and preserve the good temperment and trainability of both breeds while lessening the likelyhood of hip problems and other medical issues.

My trainer is a 12 year old girl; I go everywhere with her. I've been all around town this past winter. I have been to the Library, the Nursing home , Wal-Mart, Harris Teeter, Food Lion, many other stores. I even got a tour of Ford dealer's service department. I get to go on lots of field trips. I must be exposed to all environments and situations so that when I am a working guide dog I will not shy away or react poorly.

My buddy is a black and white cat named Socks. I hear at the school I will have cats as buddies also.
