A Change in Plans

(Written by Rudy's Raiser)
And when I was just getting used to the idea of Rudy returning to the school for IFT around June 13-16, I receive even worse news in a email I opened this morning.
Evidently the guide dog school is changing the "IFT" process... and decided to move UP the date to June 4th (of course, the exact day my brother is graduating... which means there is no way I'll be able to take Rudy back - and you have to take them back on that exact date).
Yes I did realize that sooner or later, Rudy would have to return back to the school... but since I'm not raising again (for now) this news is even harder to take in.
I really wish I could take Rudy back myself, he's going to be the first dog I did not return to the school.
Yes, I am keeping my fingers crossed, just in case something may change... but at this point, Rudy will be going back on June 4th WITHOUT me dropping him off.

Kyle's recall letter came yesterday with the bad news that his recall is a day earlier than expected. That is bad enough! I'm sorry. Enjoy every minute of your last month with your boy!

Dang, that stinks!! And what really stinks is that you won't be able to actually take him back yourself.

We hope you and Rudy can pack in some fun together time before it's time for him to go back to the school! Make the best of every minute with him!

I know how you feel. I don't know if I'll be able to get back home in time for Rocco's recall date. Sorry, man. Have lots of fun with your boy in this last month.

We are so sorry to read this news. How sad to not be able to take Rudy to the school yourself, and that they moved up the date. If you explain it to Rudy, he will understand.

We hope you are able to enjoy as much time as possible with Rudy before he has to leave. Make tons of wonderful memories, take tons of wonderful photos, and keep him in your Heart forever.

I know this sounds like bad news, but maybe in some ways it will be easier to say goodbye at home. I would imagine as proud as you are for Rudy and as prepared as you can be for him to take his next step, at least you won't have to drive home from his school sad, and you also have other family things to keep you busy.

You have a very big heart.

How sad my puppy Medford is suppose to be going back for his formal training around that time too. Hopefully Rudy will do great and graduate
